Cover: Confocal microscopic image of androgenic receptors and estrogenic receptors-&agr; expression in male and female rat coronary microvascular endothelial cells. Intense immunocytochemical reactivity of estrogenic receptor-&agr; (green, FITC) is located at the cell periphery and cytoplasm. Androgenic receptor immunoreactivity (red, rhodamine) is also observed but only at the cytoplasm level. The coexpression of estrogenic receptor-&agr; and androgenic receptors (yellow) is observed only at the cytoplasm compartment. From Sierra-Ramírez A, Morato T, Campos R, Rubio I, Calzada C, Méndez E, and Ceballos G. “Acute effects of testosterone on intracellular Ca2+ kinetics in rat coronary endothelial cells are exerted via aromatization to estrogens”.
